Business & Resident Help
Community Assistance
In support of our neighbors affected by the day-long evacuation order associated with the fire, Vistra partnered with the Community Foundation for Monterey County, United Way Monterey County, and the Castro Plaza Family Resource Center to administer an assistance program, funded by Vistra, to defray costs for food, lodging, and other out-of-pocket expenses.
All households within the evacuation area defined by Monterey County’s Department of Emergency Management were eligible for assistance. The Community Foundation and its partners hosted four public events, in addition to dozens of one-on-one consultations, to confirm eligibility and deliver financial assistance. The assistance program was completed in late March and provided financial support to more than 550 impacted individuals and households.
We are grateful for the partnership of the Community Foundation, United Way, and the Castro Plaza Family Resource Center for their support, expertise, and hard work in making this a success.

Vistra recognizes that the evacuation and traffic closures from the fire at our Moss Landing site may have had an impact on some area businesses. We apologize for the hardship this has caused affected businesses and employees.
Since then, we have heard from and talked personally to many Moss Landing business owners, managers, and employees about how we can help. In that regard, Vistra is establishing a claims program for business disruptions.
The program is run by an experienced third-party claims administrator and covers businesses that are:
located in the evacuation zone; or
located at or operating out of the Moss Landing Harbor.
Some examples of what may be covered include: lost revenues and wages paid to employees for the period from January 17 to January 22; clean-up costs incurred after January 16; and, for restaurants, losses due to spoilage of fresh food.
We understand that cash flow is tight for small businesses. We are committed to making the claims process as efficient as possible and getting funds to affected businesses promptly.
